Who is Bowline?

Camp people, protecting
what camps have built.

Bowline HQ is a finance, operations, and advisory partner to camps and outdoor experience brands. You have spent years, sometimes generations, building a place that changes kids. We run the operation underneath it so those hours go back to the people you built it for.

Deep relationships and a hands-on approach. Never a one size fits most engagement.

What we believe

Preserving camp tradition. Leveraging modern operations.

01

Camp first, finance second

We learned the operation before we touched the ledger. Sessions, rentals, day camp, timber, pasture. The chart of accounts follows the property, not the other way around.

02

Technology is leverage, not the product

Integrations and automations do the repetitive work so our people can do the thinking. You get a responsive team, supported by automation that runs around the clock.

03

Three people, not one person

Every account is staffed with a Fin Ops Specialist on the daily work, a Controller on the close, and a Director acting as your fractional CFO. The people who close your month are the people in the board meeting and at the closing table.

People on your account, minimum

Our minimum standard

There is a floor, and we do not go below it.

Our client directors grade every set of books on a five-level scale. The first two levels are not services we offer, at any price. If you are making real decisions on a real budget, you need books that are reviewed and reconciled, not just categorized.

Levels 1 - 2

Not offered, at any price

DIY books and basic bookkeeping. Cash reconciled, everything else on the balance sheet unreviewed. Enough for a general sense of activity, not enough to decide anything.

Level 3

Where every engagement starts

A structured month-end close with every balance sheet account reviewed. Nothing unexamined, no unresolved suspense accounts. Numbers you can trust directionally.

Levels 4 - 5

Where the advice lives

The full performance picture each month with budget-to-actual beside it, and audit-ready documentation when a lender, an auditor, or a buyer comes looking.

How we work

We know camp operations as well as we know the books.

Most firms that serve camps price a monthly close and stop there. We start by tracing how a dollar actually moves through your property, then rebuild the path so registration, banking, cards, payroll, and the general ledger are talking to each other instead of to a spreadsheet.

On top of that we layer the integrations and automations that keep the repetitive work off your staff. Your people review exceptions instead of the whole pile. Every automated step still has a named person behind it.

And when the questions get bigger than the month - an acquisition, a capital project, a board decision - the same team that already knows your numbers is sitting at the table.
